The Hardragon is an idea born from the meeting between Enduro in Appennino and the pilot Sonny Goggia during a training session in the winter of 2018, when Sonny himself discovered the Dragone track in Palagano, in the Modena Apennines, for the first time.
almost by chance.
He was looking for a tough location where he could train during the Christmas holidays and, hearing about this renowned track, he contacted Enduro in Appennino to prepare a training route for him… as tough as possible.
He was granted his wish. He immediately understood the enormous potential of the track, located in the Dragone Valley, adjacent to the river of the same name, and in fact he returned several times throughout 2019 to explore the entire area. So, over a post-workout beer, we daydreamed for a moment, and a glance was enough to understand each other as soon as one of us said, “What if…”
It all started from there, and now here we are: the Hardragon takes shape and comes to life!
As of today, we’re in our fifth edition. We’ve gained enough experience to fully understand what enduro riders want from this event, so we’ve decided to abandon the Pista del Dragone for now and move higher up to a location that also hosts the Italian Trial Championship. This town, remembered by all trial enthusiasts for its noteworthy “zones,” has been transformed into enduro zones: Piandelagotti, also in the province of Modena. This location is ideal not only for its trails, but also for its accommodations, which can accommodate the influx of riders and spectators.
